Monster Hunter Scales Studies

This is the another piece in a monster themed kit I'm working on. Wanted to tackle some Rathian and Pukei Pukei Scales. I was captivated by Vinicius Ribeiro's take on tiling scales in the substance masters series, and decided to interpret his techniques when creating my version. I especially liked his take on the flesh in between the plates. It served as amazing inspiration. I've also added some additional secondary scales for height breakup, giving a more prominent arching scale shape. As normal this material was 100% Substance Designer.
